Graduating with a PhD and on the edge of becoming an investment banker, Stefan Glaenzer decided to start his own media company. He describes his first idea- launching a print magazine about an upcoming trend called “internet” in the late 90´s as “not the smartest”. It took him seven years to come to the first profitable idea which led to a company growing so fast, he even hired the pizza delivery guy. Today Stephan Glaenzer is living in London and supports startups as a venture capitalists. In his talk, he gives advice to young founders and reveals the advantage of being an investor.
“If you marry, there´s a legal way of divorcing, its different with the investor, he remains shareholder for the rest of the companies life.”. That’s why he advises entrepreneurs to ask ugly questions during the fundraising process in order to make sure to find an investor who can provide you with more than just the necessary capital.
